Healthcare assistant CV layout and presentation
Your CV layout should be clear, with plenty of white space to ensure it’s easy to read on a screen or a printout.
Microsoft Word is the best CV format, as PDFs can often introduce formatting errors when read by an Applicant Tracking System (or ATS). These are the systems that many companies use to perform the first sift of CVs, as they allow a large number to be evaluated very quickly.
A logical layout will enable a recruiter and/or an ATS to pick out the relevant information quickly and easily.
Include plenty of keywords – i.e. words relevant to the role, such as “personal care” or “hospital”. Recruiters sometimes use keywords to search for CVs, so including them increases your chances of being noticed.
Next, you’ll need to think about your CV structure.
Start with your name and contact details (location, phone number, email address and LinkedIn URL). You’ll then need headers for the following sections, which are explained in greater detail below:
- Professional profile.
- Key skills.
- Professional experience.
- Qualifications and professional development.
